Heavy Snow Sets to send a Blast of Winter in Switzerland
A terrible wind sweeping in from the North has set to form a cold front in Switzerland early on Saturday, Says MeteoSwiss, the national weather office of the country. According to the report from the office, the temperature will take a sharp fall and go below zero over the weekend following heavy snowfall on Alps. Forecast from Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research shows that severe snowfall is very likely in many parts of the Alps on Saturday night with an expected snow accumulation of 20 to 40 centimeters at the 2,500-metre level of the northern Alps and in Graubünden between Friday evening and Saturday evening. The cantons of Valais and Ticino standing on the same altitude may also see the 20 centimeters of snowfall. At lower levels, 10 to 20 centimeters of snow is expected on Saturday night, added the forecast. The Institute warns that avalanche danger may rise due to fresh snowfall particularly in the north-facing slopes.
